Scott Altabet, LCSW-R, DCSW, ACSW
Scott Altabet joined the Family Counseling staff in October 2024. With over 35 years of professional practice, Scott has extensive clinical experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and older adults using individual, couple, family, and group counseling methods. Scott is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who holds a Diplomate in Clinical Social Work from the National Association of Social Workers.
Scott has worked in a diverse array of professional settings over the course of his career that include psychiatric emergency room/ child and adolescent crisis team, short-term treatment teams, substance abuse prevention and treatment programs, school-based services, mental health clinics, private practice, and community centers. He has extensive administrative and clinical experience, serving in a range of supervisory and director roles during his career.
Scott's experience in education includes serving as an adjunct faculty member at the New York University and Columbia University Schools of Social Work, a supervisor for social work interns and professional social workers, and as a workshop presenter on a variety of topics in both professional and community settings. Scott has also held leadership roles in professional and community-based organizations on both the local, county and national level.
Scott received his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from SUNY-Binghamton. He earned a Master of Social Work in Clinical Social Work from New York University and a Master of Philosophy in Social Policy/Administration from the Columbia University School of Social Work.
