Denim Day

On Wednesday, April 26, 2023, join the Scarsdale Safe Coalition: Children, Families, Community by wearing jeans with a purpose. Denim Day symbolizes the protest against harmful and misguided attitudes about sexual assault.

We invite community members, elected officials, businesses, and students to make a powerful social statement by wearing jeans as a visible protest against the misconceptions surrounding sexual assault.

Denim Day began after the Italian Supreme Court overturned a rape conviction, arguing that the victim’s tight jeans implied consent because she must have helped remove them. In response, women in the Italian Parliament wore jeans to work in solidarity with the victim. Peace Over Violence created the Denim Day campaign inspired by this case and the activism it sparked.
