Megan Harkins, LMHC
Megan Harkins , LMHC has joined the Youth Services Project at the middle school level. As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Megan has experience supporting children, adolescents, adults, and families through a wide range of challenges.
Megan began her professional career working with a program that helped children and adolescents regulate their emotional and behavioral responses both in and out of school. In this role, she provided individual and group counseling to enhance social skills, build self-esteem, and develop effective coping strategies. Megan also supported parents and families through psychoeducation and validation, empowering them to better understand and address their children's needs.
More recently, Megan worked in a private psychotherapy practice, where she focused on treating children, adolescents, and adults. Using a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness techniques, and supportive therapy, she helped clients navigate difficult life transitions and challenges. For younger clients, Megan developed an age-appropriate toolkit of therapeutic strategies to support both children and their families in achieving their goals.
Megan earned her undergraduate degree from Loyola University Maryland and her master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Adelphi University.
