Please remember that if you require a ride to a local event or program, or to a personal doctor's appointment or essential errand, and it's during the week, particularly on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10-2 pm, Derek can pick you up in the van and take you and usually provide return service. JUST CALL ME and I will make arrangements.
Recently we visited the Neue Gallery and The 9-11 Memorial followed by lunch together at Katz's deli and then an impromptu tour of the Eldridge Street Synagogue. We also just returned from a full day at the Museum of Natural History. Locally, we enjoyed Westchester Restaurant Week and dined together at Fig & Olive. We hope to see all of you at some of our upcoming programs and events. Below I'm listing other area programming through Scarsdale Seniors, the Scarsdale Woman's Club, The Center for Aging in Place (CAPS). We all work together to help provide cultural, stimulating, and interesting programs, events, and physical activity for Scarsdale seniors and their families and friends.
Spring is in the air, actually it’s more like summer as I write this newsletter. We hope that all our members and your families and friends are feeling well and enjoying the beautiful weather.
We have had a very busy winter with so many programs, support groups, referrals, and of course, lots of trips to museums, shows, and other events throughout Westchester and New York City. In January we went to the Guggenheim, saw Harry Connick Jr. in On A Clear Day You Can See Forever as well as enjoyed a weekend outing to see Porgy and Bess. Inky Weiss educated us all on senior travel ideas and tips during one of our Life Changes groups, held most months, here at 14 Harwood Court. We hope you will consider joining us for one of these supportive, educational, and inspirational meetings. Carla Glassman, elder attorney spoke at the March meeting and was highly informative to members on estate issues. Our winter luncheon at Harvest on Hudson was well attended, so much so that we also dined together at Bistro 808 and then again during restaurant week at Fig & Olive. Our local luncheons are a casual way for members to get to know one another and share experiences and ideas. Our group saw so many more shows this winter—it’s hard to remember them—Other Desert Cities, Love’s Fire at SUNY Purchase, Memphis, Best Man, and upcoming, Death of a Salesman and Nice Work if You Can Get It.Other trips included a tour of Gracie Manor, a wonderful trip to the 9-11 Memorial, Katz’s Deli, and then an unexpected tour of the Eldridge Street Synagogue. We also went to the Neue Gallerie, the Museum of Natural History, the Brooklyn Museum, and saw the exquisite orchids at the New York Botanical Gardens.
Yes, our members keep busy with At Home in Scarsdale activities, but we are also equally active here in Scarsdale and we are so fortunate to have Derek to drive members to area appointments and errands. As a member of AHISV, members can call me ahead of time and book Derek to drive them door-to-door. Also, we are able to help members with referrals to area service providers such as contractors and other essential needs.
Another important service At Home provides, is one-on-one personal conversation and support when requested. Feel free to call me or email me at any time with any questions or topics you want to discuss. I am happy to share my professional experience and empathetic interest in you.
There are no assigened seats on the van. If you require special accomodations for seating on the van, submit your request in writing 48 hours in advance. All medical accomodations with be taken into consideration, but we cannot guarantee seating.
